TEHRAN - Unity is the only way to continue the Islamic Revolution and this requires the rectification of previous policies, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaii says.

Any political dispute, no matter how legitimate, that could block the path of the country’s progress in the economic and cultural spheres is an “unforgivable sin”, he said in statement issued on Sunday.
He went on to say that Iran is now in a unique situation where there are countless opportunities open to it in the international arena, and thus failing to take advantage of these opportunities would be unforgivable.
“We need cooperation and brotherhood. We need respect for the people and their rights. I believe political justice takes precedence over economic justice,” he added.
Commenting on the remarks politicians and media outlets exchanged and the bitter acrimony that arose after the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Rezaii said there is a conspiracy behind this situation.
“At the peak of the Islamic Republic’s might inside Iran and in the region and after the Bush administration and the Zionists failed to achieve anything through sanctions… they came up with the idea of an explosion from inside,” he added.
“Those who made a mistake in the recent incidents should make amends, and those who were harmed should forgive, although amends should be made for the harm they suffered,” part of the statement read.
Rezaii also said the current policies of some political activists are pushing the country backwards and therefore it is essential that defeated presidential candidates Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mahdi Karoubi set aside their disputes with Ahmadinejad for the sake of national interests.
